On January 7th, 2023, as I sat down to write my New Year's
resolution, I decided to take a look back at my old diaries from 2008. I
reviewed all the goals and plans I had set for myself each year and felt
grateful for how many of them I had achieved. However, I noticed that some
dreams and wishes remained unchecked on the list. I realized that while I made
plans each year, I had not taken any real action towards achieving them.
I began to reflect on why that was, and one goal that stood
out to me was my desire to write something every day. I recognized that I had
started writing a few times, but I always seemed to stop after a few paragraphs
or a day. I realized that I needed some help to get started and started
searching for someone who writes regularly to get tips and advice.
Then, I decided to reach out and request for a meeting with
the blogger whose writing I liked and sought some ideas from him. The meeting
turned out great and the blogger shared some handy tips and advice, he even
wrote a post on how
to start the next day. I read the post and started writing
that same night and now I am writing on the topic "I decided to
write.".
I realized that I had to figure out my "why", Why
do I want to write? What would happen if I didn't start? Writing is important
to me, I want to document my father's story and pass down my writing skills to
my sons. I could not imagine myself, a few years from now, filled with regret
for not starting this journey. It may be challenging initially, but I will take
baby steps and be intentional about it. I am convinced that with practice and
dedication, perfection will come.
The most crucial step is making the decision to start and
not worrying about what I'll write or how to find joy in it. The intention is
key, my heart will guide me to write and my brain will start thinking about
ways to fulfill my wish. Eventually, writing will become a habit and will never
stop, the joy of reading and writing will only increase as I continue on this
journey.
